Despite the influx of fresh summer heat, the road season is slowly winding down but not before a great Labor Day Weekend full of plenty of racing and riding options.


One of the region’s largest events, The Gateway Cup, will take place this weekend in Saint Louis. The event offers four days of racing on a variety of courses. The event also offers two recreational rides and a 5K run.

the heat of summer has reared up here at the end of August but it is already time to start thinking about cross season. Kansas City area cross racers will be taking part in the Kansas City Cyclocross Clinic on Saturday at Volker Bicycles on 39th Street.


The Iowa State Time Trial Championships takes place this weekend as well. Held on Sunday in Nichols, the 40k tt will test riders legs after a full season of racing and riding.


One of the area’s flattest and fastest century rides, The Gorilla Century, will take place on Saturday in Pittsburg, Kansas.


The Illinois Points Race State Championships are taking place on Thursday evening in Northbrook, Il.
