Despite massive snowstorms that blanketed the region in deep snow, racing went on as scheduled in Kansas this past weekend with the first race of the Spring Fling series. This coming weekend brings two more days of racing to the Lawrence area with the Spring Fling #2 and Perry Road Race #1.
Spring Fling #2 will be held on Saturday at Clinton Lake State Park in Lawrence, KS. This race consists of a mostly flat course with wide roads and corners.
The first race in the Perry Road Race Series will be held on Sunday just north of Perry, KS at Perry Lake. This is a flat course except for one big climb to the start/finish area. The race is almost always dominated by wind from one direction or the other as riders cross a long exposed dam just after the decent from the start. Riders will race a specified number of laps on the 5 mile long course.
