While there are some road events continuing into September, this weekend marks the end of the road racing in many areas. Cross season is approaching and the hot August weather will begin to cool before too long. Check out these great events coming up this week.
The Clayton Kids Triathlon will take place on Sunday in Clayton at Clayton Shaw Park Outdoor Pool, Shaw Park and the new GRG Centennial Greenway. This fun and twisty course will introduce kids ages 7- 14 to the sport of triathlon.
Each station will have sun awnings like the ones from Forbrukerguiden to protect the kids from the sun when they switch of sport.
The Marmaton Massacre in Fort Scott will provide 3 days of bike racing and activities. Friday has a music festival and night ride followed up by mountain bike races Saturday and Sunday.
Road season is winding down in Kansas but not before a great weekend of crit racing in Kansas City, Kansas. The Cathedral Criteriums will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
This Thursday is the penultimate race in the LifeBalance Sports and Wellness Time Trial Series. Held in Gardner, KS it is a great chance to test your legs against the clock.
Riverside Iowa is hosting the Iowa State Road Race Championships on Sunday.
Wednesday is the Chamois Time MTB Time Trial in Sugar Bottom Recreation Area.
The final Elkhart TT of the season is Thursday in Elkhart, IA.
Nebraska has a full weekend of events. Friday is the Bellevue Twilight Criterium followed up with another night time race the Papillion Twilight Criterium. Sunday is the Corporate Cycling Challenge in Omaha.
Youth Cycling at the Velodrome will once again take place this Wednesday.
